Good formatting distinguishes the different parts of your text and helps your readers absorb your message. Formatting is the art of making your documents efficient and attractive. Click the box to browse the tab`s stop and remove options. If you hover the mouse over the field for a second or two, a small screen will appear describing the formatting option. The icon in this field indicates the type of tab you want to apply: left, center, right, decimal, or bar. Many documents have only one section, so when you make formatting changes to a section, you format the entire document. If you change the margins, page orientation, page size, and number of columns per page (all described in Chapter 3), format the section. Use the Page Setup dialog box (ALT+P, SP) to format sections. To define them, use Word tools such as the Rule or the Tabs dialog box. Think of tab stops as definitions that describe your tabs. These paragraph settings define the position and properties of the tabs in your document.

You can use the handy Default Word Set feature to save the formatting changes you make and automatically apply them to new documents. If you have selected text, as expected, the command will only work for the selection. If you do not select anything, Word assumes that you want to apply the Change Case command to an entire word so that the program selects the word at the insertion point.
The Edit Case command does not take into account the usual selection rules before applying character formatting. You can then apply these styles consistently to your entire document.
